MUSIC ACCOMPANYING THIS PAGE IS YOURS TRULY
THIS IS MY UNPLUGGED VERSION OF DESPERADO..

This is a guitar my other half brought home

I'ts a 1958 hofner congress

     pic 1  the sows ear

As you can see i'ts not in the best of health but with a bit of patience it was brought back from the dead
the first problem was re-doing the inner struts that keep the front from collapsing ..
whoever had done this had cut through the bracing in their efforts to fit pickups to it which made the front flexible
so how it ever stayed in tune was a miracle i had to work through the holes to do the bracing but using horse glue
and clamps the bracing was repaired........

Next came the reshaping of the f-holes and filling in the pick-up holes
this was pretty time consuming using fret saws and more horse glue (heated in a pot .. the smell is like nothing else)
then lots of rubbing down to make sure there is no polish or foreign matter that would destroy any paint or laquer i applied........

Primer was then applied to the body then i used crackle glaze to give it a custom finish and to disguise any blemishes in the bodywork
then many layers of laquer were applied and left for a while next step was changing some damaged frets then polishing the arm last job was a new set
of machine heads as the originals were broken ..  not original i know but i thought i would brighten
it up a bit after the years of abuse .. this guitar hangs on my wall along with other instruments i have repaired .. it plays, sounds and looks great and will never be sold ..
